Beginning Thursday, August 6, we will honor our Blessed Mother here at the National Shrine of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal with a very special Assumption Novena of Masses. On each of these nine days we will celebrate the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass in devotion to Mary, asking her to help us enjoy heavenly glory at the end of our earthly lives. Please send me any special prayer intentions you have. We will place them at our Lady’s Altar and remember them in the nine Assumption Masses we celebrate, and in the Solemnity Mass on August 15. You may also wish to burn a Votive Light at the Shrine as an expression of your desire to honor Mary and seek her intercession. Read Fr. Kevin’s message about Mary’s Assumption. The Solemnity of the Assumption provides us with a wonderful opportunity to honor Mary, glorious in heaven, always interceding for us!

Christmas is fast approaching, and many of you are feeling overwhelmed by all the preparations of the season. If you are seeking a deeper encounter with Christ this Christmas, I encourage you to offer Jesus your prayers of thanksgiving. A perfect way to do this is to send me your Christmas petitions to be included in the Shrine’s Christmas Novena, December 16-24. Your intentions will be placed at our Lady’s Shrine for remembrance as we prepare for the coming of our Lord. You might also want to burn a Votive Light in thanksgiving for the blessings of the year. May our newborn Savior bless you this Christmas and may his Mother Mary watch over you and your loved ones.

189 years ago, Our Lady appeared to Saint Catherine Labouré and asked her to have a medal made in the likeness of the vision presented to her. Catherine accepted this mission. In the years since Mary’s apparition to Saint Catherine, Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal has touched the lives of hundreds of millions who have worn her medal and trust in her intercession. We continue Mary’s mission of hope by bringing people to Jesus through Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal. Allow the Association to pray with you. Send your petitions for remembrance in our annual Miraculous Medal Novena, November 18-26, and request Votive Lights to burn. Read Fr. Kevin’s letter about how Mary is waiting to hear from you. To help you remember to pray and ask for God’s graces, request your 15-month Miraculous Medal Planner for 2020-2021. As you write your own scheduled dates and events, it will remind you that Mary brings Jesus to you every day of your life!

Send your petitions and burn Votive Lights at our Lady’s National Shrine here in Perryville, Missouri, for the Mother of Divine Grace Novena, beginning June 19 and lasting nine days. Let our Blessed Mother intercede for you with her loving Son. Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal told Saint Catherine Labouré, “Come to the foot of the altar. Graces will be shed on all, great and little, especially upon those who ask for them.”  Our Lady is the Mother of Divine Grace, and she reminds us to ask for God’s grace. I also invite you to say this prayer to our Lady throughout the nine days of this novena.

You are invited to join us in spirit for a very special novena beginning January 14 and continuing through January 22 to celebrate the Espousal of Mary to Saint Joseph. Send me your petitions for remembrance throughout the novena as well as on the feast day itself, January 23, and burn Votive Lights as a sign of your prayer. In this novena we ask them to pray for us and our families. Mary and Joseph both took a leap of faith when they said “yes” to become the parents of our Lord, Jesus Christ. They resigned themselves to the will of God and trusted in his wisdom and plan. On the feast of the Espousal of Mary, January 23, all of us are called to our own leap of faith—to abandon our personal desires for those of the Lord. Look to imitate Mary and Joseph who faithfully placed themselves in the hands of God.

When our Blessed Mother appeared to young Catherine Labouré in 1830, she foretold the evil and sorrow of the revolutions of 1830 and 1832 in France. The situation back then seemed hopeless, just as it does for so many today. But no situation is hopeless when Mary, the Mother of Jesus, steps in! She gave us the Miraculous Medal which has brought us hope in times of despair. The Association here in Perryville, Missouri, continues Mary’s mission of hope by bringing people to Jesus through Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal. Allow the Association to pray with you. Send your petitions for remembrance in our annual Miraculous Medal Novena, November 18-26, and request Votive Lights to burn.  Read Fr. Kevin’s letter about how Mary is waiting to hear from you. To help you remember to pray and ask for God’s graces, request your 15-month Miraculous Medal Planner for 2019-2020. As you write your own scheduled dates and events, it will remind you that Mary brings Jesus to you every day of your life!

I invite you to join us at our Blessed Mother’s Altar during the Our Lady of Sorrows Novena, beginning on September 6. Send us your petitions to be placed near Mary’s Altar, and burn Votive Lights for your intentions. For each of the nine days of the novena, say this prayer. Mary is Our Lady of Sorrows.  She carries this honored title because she knows and experiences sorrow as deeply and as painfully as anyone possibly can. She witness the excruciating passion and crucifixion of her only Son, unable to help him…except by her prayers. This is how our Lady helps us today, and she is waiting to help you now!  Read Fr. Kevin’s message about Our Lady of Sorrows.
