All Souls Remembrance
May we join you in praying for the souls of your departed loved ones?

Beginning with the November 2 observance of All Souls Day and throughout the month, we would like to offer prayers of intercession for your deceased relatives and friends. Simply send the names of your departed loved ones. These names will be placed near Mary’s Altar at the National Shrine of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal here in Perryville. (If you include the date of your loved one’s passing, we will also remember them during that month.) You may also burn a Votive Light as one more sign of your enduring love for your departed loved ones.

Fr. Kevin’s letter shares much more about the beautiful tradition of All Souls Day!

Do you know someone who is suffering from the loss of a loved one? I invite you to share the gift of Mary’s loving consolation by requesting our beautiful Memorial Remembrance Card. We’ll mail you the card for you to send to the person in need. And if you send me the name of the deceased, he or she will be remembered in the prayers and daily Mass being offered daily at the National Shrine of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal throughout the year. Just as our Lady comforted nine-year-old Saint Catherine Labouré following her mother’s death, so she will bring peace of heart to all who look upon her image in their sorrow. Fr. Kevin’s letter shares more about this touching story from Catherine’s life. You will also have the opportunity to burn a Votive Light for the peaceful repose of the soul of the loved one who has passed on – a wonderful symbol of your faith-filled compassion and another gift of love.

November All Souls Remembrance
At the National Shrine of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal in Perryville, we will pray for your deceased relatives and friends throughout the month of November. On All Souls Day, November 2, we will celebrate Mass for those you wish to remember. Send me their names so they can be placed near Mary’s Shrine for All Souls Day, and if you also give us their anniversary dates, we will remember your loved ones at the appropriate time in the coming year. You can also burn Votive Lights for your departed loved ones as a visible reminder of your prayers for them. Read Fr. Kevin’s letter about the time-honored tradition of commemorating the faithful departed on All Souls Day.

I want to help you share God’s love and Mary’s motherly compassion with someone in need. More specifically, I’m certain there is someone in your life who has recently lost a loved one. I invite you to use our new Memorial Remembrance Card, and to send me the name of the deceased person so that he or she can be remembered in the prayers and daily Mass here at the Shrine for one year. Mary’s image on the card inspires us to realize that she stands by us in our sorrow just as she stood by Jesus as he died for us on the cross. You might also want to burn a Votive Light for your deceased loved one. Read more in Fr. Kevin’s letter about the love and comfort Jesus and his Blessed Mother have for us.
