The Christian life is a discipleship in mercy. Jesus teaches us how to show loving kindness, compassion, and forbearance to those who long for his love.
As you become more like Christ in this extraordinary Jubilee Year of Mercy, I encourage you to consider two important acts of preparation.
The first is a matter of getting your soul ready to meet Jesus.
If it has been more than a year since your last confession, take time soon to receive God’s loving mercy in the sacrament of Reconciliation.
Similarly, if you or a loved one are struggling with a chronic illness, preparing for a major surgery, or are in danger of death, request from your priest the sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick.
God’s grace will give you peace and strength, helping you to trust that “the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed” (Romans 8:18).
The second act of preparation is a matter of getting your earthly gifts ready. If you have not yet prepared a legal will, it is extremely important that you do so.
