Association of the Miraculous Medal
Press Operator

Under the direction of the Production Team Leader, the Press Operator sets up and runs the web press and the digital printer for various appeals and all other literature needed by the Association.

Qualifications:

Previous training or experience in print shop work is desired, but not required. Should have a good understanding of production machinery. Must be able to stand eight hours or more per day if necessary. Must be able to lift up to approximately 60 pounds from floor to chest high on an intermittent basis. Must be willing to work overtime as required to meet appeal schedules. Must work 40 hours per week on a regular and continuing basis.

Must be detail oriented when working with colors and alignment on the press. The ability to complete tasks in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner at all times. Must display the proper knowledge of safe use of chemicals used in the printing industry, and follow accepted safety precautions in handling these chemicals at all times. Must follow accepted safety procedures in running presses and other equipment in the Production Team area also.

Must work well as a team member and be able to communicate with members of the department and other Association staff and management.

Duties

1. Set up and run the web press and production printer for all types of print jobs, using artwork and layout provided for these jobs.

2. Processes plates for the press.

3. Cleans all inking and dampener systems. Cleans exterior and interior of presses.

4. Operates the Ricoh Production printer and understands all settings.

5. Performs most types of maintenance on the web press and all other equipment in the Production Department.

6. When not performing duties as a Press Operator, performs other duties including operating the cutter, folder, and performing ordinary maintenance and repair on this equipment.

7. Performs other related duties as required.
